Biography

Aaron Manu is currently a Visiting Ph.D. student in Biochemistry from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center, conducting his research under the supervision of Prof. Maria Contel. His research focuses on investigating the potential of novel gold-based anticancer compounds to induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) in renal cancer, with particular emphasis on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer cell death and their ability to stimulate antitumor immune responses. Prior to beginning his Ph.D., Aaron obtained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (2019) and a M.Sc. in Molecular, Cell Biology of Infectious Diseases (2023) from the University of Ghana (Accra, Ghana). Aaron has a long-standing interest in cancer biology, tumor immunology, and the development of novel therapeutic strategies that harness the immune system to improve cancer outcomes.
